A live ops game designer is able to plan resources for live ops games after reviewing proposed designs and roadmaps.
- Creating designs for in-game campaigns/events
- Designing and producing assets for monetization systems
- Balancing
- Coordinating with respective stake holders
- Designing UI/UX focused on usability
The Ideal Candidate has…
- 3+ years experience in game design, development, and/or live ops
- Experience with design that can influence KPI, based on data insight and user-first principles
- Strong communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- The ability to design within limitations
- The ability to facilitate internal communication and increase group productivity
- The ability to create something from nothing
- The ability to visualize user experience cases
Necessary Skills and Experience
- Console game development experience
- Project management skills related to budgets, quality, and tasks
- The ability to deconstruct necessary components of gameplay and communicate them correctly to others
- The ability to research and document information on competing titles (CBT/OBT)
- Deciphering base KPI value to utilize in live ops systems and development plans
- The ability to design the following elements:
・Live ops (Monetization/Gacha)
・Social (Notifications/Friends/Guilds)
・Resources (Growth/Rewards)
・UI/UX
・Server-based design - The ability to move ideas through a team skillfully
- The ability to write game proposals
Desired Skills
Senior Game Designer (Live Ops) candidates should also have:
- The ability to provide adequate direction for gameplay elements that motivate user retention (game cycles, social features, etc)
- Experience leading large-scale user testing
- Experience managing other live ops game designers
- The ability to negotiate with staff inside and outside of the studio
