Q: What is it like to work at PlatinumGames?
A: You will be surrounded by some of the most passionate, creative professionals in the game industry, all working towards the goal of making the best games on the planet. In other words, it is awesome.
Q: What is it like to work in Japan?
A: Adjusting to any foreign culture is difficult, but Japan is safe, with convenient mass transit, and friendly citizens. Ultimately, what you put in to your community is usually what you get back. If you live and work in Japan wishing it was your home nation, you will have trouble adjusting; however, if you roll with the punches, you will most likely have an excellent experience.
Q: Do you have to speak Japanese to work at PlatinumGames?
A: Yes. You must be fluent in Japanese (JLPT Level 1 or equivalent certification) to work at PlatinumGames.
Q: Do I have to live in Japan to work at PlatinumGames?
A: Yes. While you don’t have to live in Japan now, we do not allow telecommuting, so you will have to work at our Osaka, Japan head office.
Q: I speak Japanese but I am not a Japanese citizen, will you help me get a Visa?
A:. Visa and relocation support will be provided to qualified applicants on a case-by-case basis.
Q: Do those living in Japan have preference over foreign applicants?
A: We want the best, most skilled staff in the world working on our games. The most qualified applicant will be the one selected. However, if one of two equally qualified applicants is already a Japanese resident, that fact will be viewed as a plus.
Q: Why do I have to apply through the Japanese site in Japanese?
A: For two reasons. 1) All office communication is conducted in Japanese. Your superiors will speak to you in Japanese and meetings will be held in Japanese. If you cannot apply for a job in Japanese, you most likely would not have the language skills to succeed in such an environment. 2) Those making a decision on your application will be Japanese, and we do not have the ability to translate your application.
Application procedures and required submissions can be found at http://www.platinumgames.co.jp/recruit/ (JAPANESE LANGUAGE ONLY).
