Wii U Bayonetta!

Bayonetta

Filed: Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2

Hi, this is Isao Negishi, director of the Bayonetta Wii U port that comes specially packaged with Bayonetta 2!

Those who saw our Wii U Bayonetta announcement at E3 can agree we didn’t just make a simple port of the first game. This special Wii U edition gives you all the thrills of the original, plus a ton of exciting, new features.

We’ve prepared a video of how Bayonetta plays on the Wii U, so take a peek:

What did you think? Bayonetta’s world looks as stunning as ever.

Let’s discuss some of the added content that was causing a stir at this year’s E3: Bayonetta’s new costumes!

One of the things that made the original Bayonetta so fun was the ability to choose from a ton of costumes—queen, schoolgirl, you name it—and this time, there’ll be even more. These new costumes are inspired by classic Nintendo heroes and heroines, all carefully checked by the game’s original director, Hideki Kamiya. Let’s just say Kamiya was very particular about how each costume should look before passing approval.

Of course, these costumes are more than just a fun change in appearance. We’ve prepared special abilities to go with each one!

Put on your Peach costume and you’ll be able to summon the flagship villain of the Mario series, Bowser!

Maybe she didn’t draw a big enough magic circle, because it looks like we can only see his arms and legs, LOL. Yet watching Bowser pummel enemies with punches and kicks is a sight to behold. That first thrill you get when Bowser slams the enemy with his fist is quite an unforgettable experience.

Personally, I love the stomp attack he has… and don’t forget to call him out during some of the climax scenes as well.

All right, next is Link.

By equipping the Shuraba with Link’s costume on, Bayonetta will be able to use the iconic weapon of the Zelda series, the Master Sword! Wicked Weaves will create a giant Master Sword that slices enemies clean in two.

This costume also changes some of the sound effects in the game. Remember that classic Zelda jingle that plays every time you open a treasure chest? With this costume on, you’ll get to hear it! We’ve included a few other sound effects well, all taken from A Link to the Past with Nintendo’s permission. Those classic sounds really do still hold up.

Last is our Samus costume!

Samus has gone through more than a few powered suits in the Metroid series, but we ended up using the first game as our motif, per Kamiya’s request. Fans of the series should be able to tell looking at the shoulders.

One special feature that comes with the Samus suit is the ability to put the visor up or down during cut scenes. I think you’ll be surprised how fun this is. See how good it feels to slam your visor down right after telling an enemy off, or discover the amusement in endlessly going up-down-up-down during the game’s more serious moments. This can put the game’s cut scenes in whole new light!

That wraps up our blog this time. I think you can see why I’m not hesitant to call this Wii U port a “Special Editon.” This actually isn’t everything new the game has to offer as well—you might see me here again to tell you more in the future!

Until then!

JustMe Posted on June 20, 2014 at 4:34 pm

Fight against the demons that become Bayonetta's weapons would be cool

maximusaurus Posted on June 20, 2014 at 5:14 pm

Can't wait for this!
Any info on whether the Australia/Europe release will be on disc or download?

masayume Posted on June 20, 2014 at 5:24 pm

I hope there will be other articles from the game director.
I feel there may be some mini-games phases a-la nintendo too, maybe, just like the missile riding phase that was a homage to SEGA's Space Harrier.

I really like that the Power Suit used is from the original NES Metroid! It has changed a lot through the years, and you never see its original look in modern Metroid games.

Jonok Posted on June 20, 2014 at 6:18 pm

Are you sure of Hideki Kamiya approve all of this special costume? I hear real angry word after E3.

Robert Posted on July 16, 2014 at 9:05 pm

He was angry after E3 due to the box art change. The original had the crescent moon and a gold 2. Now it has a full moon with a red 2.

MesaJarJarSmart Posted on July 17, 2014 at 9:00 am

He was the one who had final say in the costumes, if he's angry he is only angry at himself.

That looks great. Please PLEASE release Bayonetta before Bayonetta 2 on the Wii U so we can play it ahead of Bayo 2's release date.

donzaloog Posted on June 20, 2014 at 10:43 pm

I'm loving all the updates. Thank you for bringing the original game to Wii U. I've never played it but I'm definitely going to buy Bayonetta 2. This is just icing on the cake.

Andrew Posted on June 21, 2014 at 12:58 am

This game continues to look awesome. I've never finished the original Bayonetta, and I'm excited to play it on Wii U. I like the additional costumes, and can't wait to find out what other extras are packed in. Looking forward to it! :)

Yagami Posted on June 21, 2014 at 1:31 am

Congratulations !

I have not played the game before, because it was not in a Nintendo platform, and now I will have the opportunity to do so.
The game is looking gorgeous and I am looking forward to play. Is there any chance of more Nintendo based costume appear in the game ? Like Zero suit Samus, Zelda, Sheik ?
It would be awesome if other great Platinum games comes to Wii U.

AlexCortes Posted on June 21, 2014 at 1:41 am

luchoski Posted on June 21, 2014 at 3:20 am

please platinum physical copy for north america.

captain nintendo Posted on June 27, 2014 at 3:28 am

platnum i want this game and love it but i'm a collector and i must have both games on disc.the wii u harddrive is to small.i have no room to download the title besides i want to be able to take the disc to a friends house so they can see how awesome it is so then they can go buy it to.please don't be cheap or play favorites.i'm honestly sick of japan and europe getting stuff while americans allways get scroowed over.please i want this game and i'm begging you guys to give usa the phyiscal copy of bayonetta.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

MesaJarJarSmart Posted on July 16, 2014 at 9:15 pm

1st: Buy a hard drive, you're going to need it anyways.

2nd: Distribution and format is not up to platinum games, so why do people come here to complain? Talk to Nintendo.

3rd: It's coming in disc form if you buy the Bayo 2 disc, and download if you buy the Bayo 2 download so quick complaining.

People get a free game and they still show up in droves to complain, even when there is absolutely no reason to…

If we're just going to demand things though, I WANT A PUPPY AND A BLOWJOB WHEN I BUY BAYO 2, PLEASE PLATINUM!!!!

Alice Posted on June 21, 2014 at 3:25 am

Ohhhh! So, you can summon Bowser fully during some of the Climax sequences? That's flocking cool! I'm thinking he'll replace Gomorrah, and if it turns out to be true, it will be fun to see Bowser chewing on angels and getting his mouth all bloody! Heh.

Also, even more things to be announced later? That's just amazing, you guys truly care for your fans, that's something very, very honorable right there! You guys didn't have to do all of this, a simple port would have been really nice, but this amazing new version of the game? I have no words…
Thank you for delivering us not only the sequel, but this amazing and enhanced version of the original as well!
Love you!

KungFooty Posted on June 21, 2014 at 3:27 am

Wow, Wii U-Gameplay looks amazing. I guess it´s always better, if the original developer of the game does the port ;-)

Does the game run even better on Wii U than on Xbox 360?
The Xbox-Version ran on 60fps most of the time, with some little exceptions.
It would be awesome, if the Wii U-Version ran with tasty 60fps-smoothness all the time :-)

baronaglio Posted on June 21, 2014 at 3:54 am

Bayonetta on Wii U looks amazing!!! I can't wait to play both in october …

fabricioogrande Posted on June 21, 2014 at 4:18 am

This is exactly what I was planing to do and I'm so glad you mentioned it. I can't wait to play with this costume.

The woman from the Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 Bayonetta stream let it be heard that there are four Nintendo-themed costumes: I bet the fourth one is from Rosalina!! ^_^

Teg Posted on June 21, 2014 at 5:29 am

The Wii U disc could hold both games, so please put both games on one disc in the United States. Please please consider this as the hard drive on the Wii U is pretty small.

rporter1986 Posted on June 21, 2014 at 5:58 am

This is so freakin cool!

Bay2OnWiiU4Life Posted on June 21, 2014 at 8:19 am

I truly love Bayonetta in her Peach costume.

ABIB Posted on June 21, 2014 at 12:05 pm

I’m so excited! Now if only NA was getting it on disc instead of a download code… :(

xwolf_07 Posted on June 21, 2014 at 10:18 pm

Thanks for putting this on Wii U too, i love all of your games guys.

This new costumes really gives the game a Nintendo vibe, great work.

So amazing. I love you guys.

MondoMousse Posted on June 23, 2014 at 1:49 am

As someone who had to make do with the PS3 version (don't have a 360), I really appreciate an enhanced definite port of the original coming with the sequel. While I did like the level designs, I did feel that the frame-rate issues in the PS3 version did hurt the experience (It did seem to change quite a bit throughout the game) and I am glad to see a consistent frame-rate is in the port. Plus, the Nintendo themed costumes look hilarious as well.

Peachy Posted on June 23, 2014 at 4:52 pm

Interesting blog, even if most of this info was already revealed at the Treehouse streaming at E3. I think you should post some sexy shots of the Peach costume – the whole Internet knows she's wearing a thong now. ;-)

lifetimegamer Posted on June 24, 2014 at 12:04 am

Looks great guys. Bayonetta is one of my favourite games of the past 10 years. Looking forward to part 2 later this year :)

Al! Posted on June 27, 2014 at 12:53 pm

Will there be a Special Collector's Edition which also includes the Funimation release of Bayonetta Bloody Fate so we can get the COMPLETE Bayonetta experience in 1 package?

canand Posted on June 27, 2014 at 10:35 pm

Cool I can't wait play the first Bayonetta game on my Wii U

canand Posted on June 27, 2014 at 10:38 pm

Cool I can't wait to play the first Bayonetta 1 on my Wii U

Atom G Posted on June 30, 2014 at 3:26 am

I played Bayonetta on the 360. 1000 achievement points, 99:99:99 play counter, unlocked everything, and beat it on every difficulty with every character. If I get something in Bayonetta 2 for playing/beating the original. I'll do it all over again. But I need to know if there is a reward for such a thing.

gerardson Posted on June 30, 2014 at 6:31 am

I would love if you can dress up Bayonetta with different accessories.

Company houses Posted on July 1, 2014 at 7:16 am

Fight against the demons that become Bayonetta's weapons would be cool

Ryan Posted on July 3, 2014 at 1:51 pm

I really hope NOA puts the first game on disc. I don't have the space on my Wii U to download anything new.

AmericanFanzScroowed Posted on July 12, 2014 at 1:05 am

dito.give us the darn disc.if every other region gets it why would the one region that makes the most profit for the company be the region to get the scroow job.this is bs if we don't get the bayonetta 1 disc in america.be fair and stop playing favorites and give us americans the disc please.thank you

fabricioogrande Posted on July 16, 2014 at 1:00 pm

I want a Wonder-Bayonetta costume too!

gallean Posted on September 10, 2014 at 3:11 am
