About the Demos

Filed: Community, Games, PlatinumGames, Vanquish

So everyone, did you get a chance to play the Vanquish demos?

There have actually been two Vanquish demos so far in Japan. The Vanquish Official Demo – Velocity Attack was taken from the campaign mode of the game, while the Vanquish Challenge Mode Demo (currently available in Japan) is part of an unlockable extra mode. We called the stage used in Velocity Attack room number 110, and I have to admit that I forgot what the code name was for the challenge mode room. (I have the habit of being the guy who forgets everything the minute development is over…)

Room 110 is pretty much exactly as you will find it in the game. In the full version of Vanquish, you will have the opening cinematic (the destruction of San Francisco and the infiltration of the colony), as well as the initial entrance into the colony with its baptism by enemy fire.

The stage used in the Vanquish Challenge Mode Demo is actually a map from the actual game, but the enemies that appear are completely different. (Wait until you see the enemy drill robot in the final game, it is awesome!) In the full version, you will get a boss fight pretty soon after this area, and I really love the cutscene that you see at that point. It is quite cool.

Even with the demo version, Vanquish is a game that is a blast to play again and again. I think it will be interesting to see the competition that sprouts up amongst skilled players playing the final version of the game. Vanquish isn’t a game that trails off towards the end, so you can expect a consistent level of quality to the very last bullet. Look forward to it next week!

Yo Mikami San,

Gotta congratulate you on those awesome demos with perfect release dates bro. Its rare nowadays that companies release demos 2-3 months before the game and so far, you've impressed me twice with bayonetta and now vanquish. Thumbs up : )

Now as for that secret japan only challenge demo – MAAAAN ITS EXCITING, the difficulty ramps up so much that you NEED to get used to the controls and strategy on the spot. Personally, defeating that challenge easily kept me playing that demo for weeks and on. And you also evaded the american plague of quick time events even though ill give you a noogie for all the QTE you had in bayonetta : )

Im quite psyched up for the release, i have to admit adding a coop mode to the game would be crazy task due to framerate issues but who know, ps4 might be in the making :D

Good luck !

Hi Mikami-san,personally I m not too worried about the game Itself…I know It´s gonna be a masterpiece…also I´ve played the PS3demo and It blew my mind…however I do care about the framerate…don´t get me wrong the demo plays great, not perfect, but still great…anyway will be any tweaks on the final version of the game…will be any framerate differences between the 360 PS3 ports?

Can´t wait to play this!!! and good luck with those sales!!!

The challenge demo was awesome! I had a lot of fun trying out all the different weapons that were available around the level. I'm looking forward to playing the full game soon.

i heard that the campaign mode in vanqiush is only 4 to 6 hours long why you put out a game that short for 60 dollars it should be 29.99 i bet no one in the u.s will buy it on the first day it comes out come on platinum games 4hr campaign is not cutting it

I think my main question after playing both demos is how much harder do the challenge rooms get?

Greetings from Kuwait!

I love this game :) and Bayonetta too. Everything that the Platinum team did, even before forming Platinum is a game I have bought. Keep up the good work!

I don't care how long the campaign is, with this type of game you play through it not for the campaign but for the fun of the game itself.

Absolutely loved the demo on 360. Will buy as soon as i can. THIS is what i want from a Japanese 3rd person shooter. Platinum lead the pack!
