MADWORLD NORTH AMERICAN RELEASE! YEAH!!

MADWORLD

Filed: Games, MadWorld, PlatinumGames

Finally! Finally! Today, users in North America can get their hands on their own copies of MADWORLD! We worked ourselves to the bone everyday, putting our blood, sweat and tears into the game so that this day would come, and we will never forget it now that it is here!

But this day also means that I’m incredibly nervous! I have no idea what I will do if people pick up and play MADWORLD and think, “This isn’t as fun as I thought it would be…”

Of course, we all worked really hard to make sure that everyone who buys MADWORLD is incredibly happy with their purchase and their game playing experience, so I am confident in that respect, but with confidence also comes anxiety.

So everyone in North America who is playing MADWORLD, let us know what you think! Even just a simple one word comment to this post is fine. (Just make sure you don’t post spoilers!)

MADWORLD will be released in Europe and Australia on March 20, 2009!

So far, the reviews have been very positive. I'll be buying this game very soon. I can't get it today, but I'll probably buy it next week. :P It will, without a doubt, be the next game I buy.

TDS Posted on March 11, 2009 at 9:32 am

Never worry Nishikawa-san! Your game is PRETTY DAMN AWESOME.

You guys choose a genre where critics are usually harsh on (Beat em-up) and made an amazing AAA game, congratulations on your debut title!

I've been hearing user impressions about the game and all of them or SUPER POSTIVE.

Not to mention the great reaction from the Media:

1UP: 9.1/10

3dJuegos 9.1

IGN: 9/10

Gamepro:9/10

GameInformer:9/10

Nintendo Power:9/10

Hyper Magazine: 9/10

Eurogamer.es: 9/10

Amazing job, I don't remember the last time a beat-em up scored as high (even though reviews don't matter, just saying)

Yama-B Posted on March 11, 2009 at 10:27 am

Greetings Nishikawa-san!

I don't buy very many Wii games because they are incredibly expensive where I live, due to heavy import taxes. However, I was quick to order Madworld from a USA store, as the game looks incredibly fun! I'll be sure to drop a comment once it arrives here.

I'm glad to see the game is getting good press coverage and very favorable reviews. Hope a lot of people play it!

Omar Pinto Posted on March 11, 2009 at 10:28 am

Then i'll write a simple word: AWESOME!

I LOVED Viewtiful Joe, Okami and God Hand so i just couldn't wait for this game, i have to admit that i like almost every game of Capcom, but i liked Clover's games better.

I knew you would do an frikin' awesome game.

Congratulations! ;D

riceking17 Posted on March 11, 2009 at 10:35 am

Thank you Platinum games for making such an awesome game. It is a very unique experience and can't wait to see what else you guys come out with.

Dustin Posted on March 11, 2009 at 10:45 am

It's 2 short! Downloadable content would be awesome. Thanks We want a much longer sequel!

oscar Posted on March 11, 2009 at 10:49 am

yeah well i couldn't get my copy today cuz gamestop didn't get the shipment in. so i preorderd for nothing.

majid Posted on March 11, 2009 at 1:00 pm

the game hasn't yet arrived and I can't wait to put my hands on it

truth be told, I am playing RE 5 just to waste the time before I get MADWORLD because to me , it is all what matters and PG is all that I care about in the industry

once I play madworld, I'll post my impressions here and in the forum

but rest assured Nishikiawa-san. you've done quite a miracle and congrats on your directorial debut

waiting for a new announcement for a new game by you after you enjoy your well-deserved vacation

Ryan Posted on March 11, 2009 at 1:28 pm

The game shops near my house don't get their shipments in until tomorrow afternoon, so I'll definitely give you my impressions then… so why don't you tell us, what did Kamiya think?

Renbo Posted on March 11, 2009 at 1:33 pm

Bloody perfect!

Hypercolormachine Posted on March 11, 2009 at 5:20 pm

You people are gods. Thank you for making a real Wii game.

James Posted on March 11, 2009 at 9:12 pm

Played it, loved it, got pissed off when I had to stop playing it to go to work.

Nuff said.

Fabian Posted on March 11, 2009 at 11:44 pm

A classic gem.

Did I say classic gem? I meant FUCKING AWESOME. Up to the Shaman currently. As a Clover fan, I feel like the humor and gameplay come through in spades. I only wish that the US got the soundtrack pre-order bonus that apparently the UK and Australia got. Back to it. Thank you.

T.A. Posted on March 12, 2009 at 4:32 am

hands down GOTY…..it plays like an indie classic…..I love the set ups the style the humor….the music…..hell the packaging I've always supported the Clover team and really wasnt too much of a fan of Bio until Bio 4…….this is an instant hit in the USA

HELLz YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Playfirst Posted on March 12, 2009 at 5:27 am

Just picked my copy up and have played about an hour or so. Amazing game guys. Love the art style and combat system. You take full advantage of the Wii remote without being gimicky. Great job.

P.S. Keep up the good work, can't wait till "Infinite Space" launches on the DS.

charlie Posted on March 12, 2009 at 6:47 am

Just picked my copy up from Gamespot, had a quick go at lunch before having to get back to work and loved what I saw, I can't wait to fire it up at home tonight for a proper session.

Stunning work team! You guys are awesome.

Davidlee Posted on March 12, 2009 at 8:54 am

The game is great.

Mu-san Posted on March 12, 2009 at 9:46 am

Finally got mine today.

Very fun game.

mechagoukuma Posted on March 12, 2009 at 10:17 am

Brilliant. I haven't had this much fun since I played (insert Clover game). Instant classic, honestly. Thank you for your hard work – it certainly paid off. I can't get enough of this game!!! It's almost too good.

KingRoto Posted on March 12, 2009 at 12:09 pm

Hi there!

I just wanted to say thanks for Risking it and Making such a daring title for the Wii. I picked up madworld today and It's a Blast, everybody must have had some fun in the creation of this game becouse boy you can tell, Steve and the announcers sounded like it at least lol. I just beat the first area, and everything is top notch.

Ace Posted on March 12, 2009 at 12:45 pm

Nishikawa-san, I just want to say that I think your game is as awesome as I hoped it would be. It's very creative, very fun, and the writing is great with a hilarious dialog and a cool story (my compliments to Matsuno-san of Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy Tactics, XII, and Vagrant Story fame for the story). If I could call it anything, it would be an unofficial sequel to God Hand (only much more Sin City, and a lot less Loony Toons meets a Kung-Fu movie).

Keep up the good work, and I look forward to future projects from you and all of PlatinumGames staff (as I did when you guys were still at Capcom).

Hatman Posted on March 12, 2009 at 12:56 pm

To put it in the overblown style of the game (more specifically, it's announcers).

I. Just. Came. Prematurely because it was WAY too short though.

perestroika Posted on March 12, 2009 at 2:17 pm

the game is fucking amazing! :D

Teknoman Posted on March 12, 2009 at 2:26 pm

The game is amazing. Cant wait till I unlock hard mode and extra weapons (even though I underestimated the Bull Crockers during Man Darts…guy came downstairs mid-game and blind sided me). Its like…God Hand + Viewtiful Joe + hyper violent graphic novel style. Tons of fun, an amazing soundtrack, and great graphics.

Hope Mad World (along with past games like God Hand and Viewtiful Joe) bring about a full on beat em up game revival.

Sun Posted on March 12, 2009 at 2:40 pm

The vg industry needs more original titles like MadWorld from u guys!

Your energy and passion is unstoppable!

(Pre-ordered my copy and can't wait for it to arrive in Singapore!)

Jonesy Posted on March 12, 2009 at 3:06 pm

I played this game for the first time tonight….IT IS INCREDIBLE! The graphics are great, the action is intense and the killing scenes are AMAZING!!

nice work guys!!!

Peter Lakanen Posted on March 12, 2009 at 3:31 pm

EXHILIRATING.

The same guys who made this made Okami? Talk about your diametric opposites.

Doc Posted on March 12, 2009 at 4:10 pm

I'm loving it so far Platinum, great style and presentation, fun visceral gameplay, a great way to unwind after work (I bought it right after I got off work) that's for sure!

Also great soundtrack! I wish I'd known the OST would be an added bonus to pre-orders

Ken Trough Posted on March 12, 2009 at 7:42 pm

Just finished my first couple hours in MadWorld. You guys have done a fantastic job. The gameplay is excellent and lots of fun. You have found a good mix of comic carnage and variable gameplay and wrapped it in a stunning visual.

You deserve the massive success that this game will bring you. I predict many people will dust off their unused Wiis in order to experience this fantastic gamespace. Can't wait to check out how the story unfolds!

Great work! Blogging about it now…

Fancykong Posted on March 12, 2009 at 7:50 pm

I really enjoyed myself. Great story! Great gameplay! Game bosses! Keep up the good work PG ^_^

Davidsan Posted on March 12, 2009 at 9:00 pm

SUGOI!!!!!!

Playing this game puts a smile on my face! :)

ARIGATO PG!!!!

evolgenius Posted on March 13, 2009 at 1:15 am

I'm only two levels in and I'm loving it! It's like a bizzaro Viewtiful Joe.

Would love to get a hold of the soundtrack, hoodie, shirts or anything of that sort. UK got all the cool preorder stuff, QQ.

bf Posted on March 13, 2009 at 1:54 am

Great game!! You did an excellent job on the artwork and controls!!

Thanks alot, Platinum!

Ryan Posted on March 13, 2009 at 3:10 am

I played through Varrigan City and the beginning of Asian Town last night, and I have to say, it's pretty awesome. My sister and my friend watched me play it, and my friend mentioned that she might go out and buy it too… and then, when my friend and I passed a spiked fence while walking later that night and immediately thought of the game again. The kills are awesome, the soundtrack is awesome, and the commentators are amazing. I did run into some snags, such as getting hit by a train in the first level, losing my lives, and being forced to replay the tutorial again, but overall, I'm really happy with the game. ^.^

…one of the coolest, most unique things I've played. Nice job Nishikawa.

Fastball611 Posted on March 13, 2009 at 3:54 am

This game truly is as great as I thought it would be.

You guys did wonderfully with everything and implemented it all perfectly.

The finishers are amazing and everything is top notch.

As a lot of people have said, it is too short but there is still a TON of replay value. For how many hours I spent playing it I know it took 50x the time to make it.

Thanks a lot for the awesome game PG!

Jamiie Posted on March 13, 2009 at 5:39 am

I live in the UK but own an American Wii. I got the game this morning an haven't stopped playing since.

Great job on one of the greatest games on Wii or any other system.

Here's hoping to a sequel.

textbook Posted on March 13, 2009 at 7:03 am

when you hear a lot of the same feedback… 9 times out of 10. it's probably true.

"Fucking Amazing" and "too short"

I recommend that you release an "extended version" if not a SEQUEL like ASAP!

In an extended version you can add a few more stages and bosses after the end

in which Jack must escape from the island. (with a nice cliffhanger towards the sequel.)

For the sequel… take advantage of the color Blue! (not the alien blood color) as an idea use "True Blue" to represent some super serum which is making blue shaded monster and mutants causing more madness. and make Jack mount and dismount that cycle or even dune buggies…like GTA = sandbox his play field to create missions. (if the WII can handle it.)

I can see Jack giving a hot chick a ride on the back of his motor bike :)

Jack is your Mario… Keep him alive!!! don't let it die like [fist of the north star...]

ok enough! I can go on forever….. GREAT JOB GUYS!!! I've always been a fan…

Kick CAPCOM's ass and get the rights to Viewtiful Joe back so you can complete the trilogy!

Erroba Posted on March 13, 2009 at 8:31 am

Amazing game so far only played first 2 levels!!!!!!

Marink Posted on March 13, 2009 at 11:47 am

This game… IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!

I love it!

So I know Bayonetta will be great.

Just wished it came out for the Wii too.

chovies Posted on March 14, 2009 at 1:50 pm

Argh, still have to wait a few more weeks before it hits Australia =[

Can't wait though =D

ILY PLATINUM GAMES !

Ben Posted on March 14, 2009 at 3:43 pm

Great game, lots of fun to play. My only complaint is that its too short.

Ben Posted on March 15, 2009 at 10:41 am

I'm a life-long Clover/Platinumgames fan. God Hand was pure genius! Okami is the most beautiful game ever!! Viewtful Joe kicks my butt to this day. Now, Madworld! It's a classic just like all the rest. Here's hoping for Madworld 2!! Keep making the amazing games and never compromise your creative vision!

Chiyuki Posted on March 16, 2009 at 12:03 pm

I just finished it and I really enjoyed the game. This was the last Wii game I bought since No More Heroes and I must say it was a breath of fresh air and just what the Wii needed. I'm a huge fan of all of clover's games. Great job! Keep up the good work!

Fireblood Fox Posted on March 16, 2009 at 9:57 pm

I've waited for this game for a long time, and while expectations are usually not met, this game actually rather exceeded them. Usually I don't come out and show support for a game out of the blue, but you guys did a great job. I'm replaying it now, and I must say, it's a game I'm proud to own, and already one of my all time favorites. Huge congrats for the style, and extremely hilarious commentators. I miss good ol' beat'm ups like this.

majid Posted on March 17, 2009 at 12:12 am

WOW! MadWorld is even more fun than I thought it would be! Congrats on an amazing game! You guys the best of the best!

rkpa77anzero Posted on March 17, 2009 at 5:53 am

Cool game men!!! It´s awesome!!!

See you soon men. Adios.

Yay Posted on March 18, 2009 at 6:10 am

This game is amazing!

Love the ability to choose between a sick soundtrack or some hilariuos comedy to go with my brutality!

If you keep pumping out amazing Mature themed games, like this one, I will definatly keep shelling out $50+ to experience them!

Hell, I'd love to see some Adult Only games that don't suck. I think this game redefines the Mature rating, putting all the rest to shame.

Keep up the great work all!!

DemaH Posted on March 18, 2009 at 9:41 am

Mr Nishikawa, thank you for making MADWORLD on Wii!

I hope it will be a great success throughout the world.

But for your first "Platinum games inc" game, it's "MISSION ACCOMPLIE" (french)

For all members Platinum games, "UN TRES GRAND MERCI ET VIVE LA SUITE"

Anonymous4chan/v/ Posted on March 20, 2009 at 4:08 am

Man, this game is awesome. at last after years of shovelware and mediocre attepts of making a Mature game – See No More Heroes – This, This had to come out. i'ts exciting. it's beautiful. it's fun.

Congratulations, SEGA and Platinum!

(BTW, good luck on getting Clover, if you are really going to do so.)

kStar Posted on March 25, 2009 at 12:38 am

I love this game, but where the f&%k is the soundtrack? Don't hate on the US!!!

Zen Posted on March 26, 2009 at 5:50 pm

This game.

You guys might just save video games. I can't even express how important your studio has become to me. Thank you so much for doing what you do.
