In the first screen shot it looks like there's bloom, but I don't think there actually is. I wonder if white bloom would look good. It would essentially be the reverse of shadows, where dark regions could become white. It seems only the white region can become darker but not the reverse.

It was interesting to hear how the visual design of MADWORLD resulted from an attempt at illustrating Jack. It's strange how well things fit together sometimes.

I'm very happy with the look of MADWORLD. It's unique and it could even be timeless.

I can't wait to get my hands on the game. An art book would be a fantastic addition.

Wow, it's stunning how well the black and white technique has been executed. I'm very impressed with how crisp and clear it looks, the little tricks used work very well. The distinctive visual style doesn't hold it back in any way, which certainly isn't easy to pull off. If anyone knows how to do it right, though, it's former Clover employees.

Just wondering, would it be possible to show us the other visual styles experimented with, such as the coloured ones? The current style completely won me over, but it would be interesting to see the others.

Congrats Platinum Games on making moves with the Wii; most other developers are p#ssies, playing it "safe" by bringing only low-quality minigame compilations and licence crap to the system.
I am so happy that your studio exists. Only the Japanese make games like this, completely fresh looking and feeling. Since there has been a sharp decline in Japanese games, specially on SONY's consoles, due to nothing but their own fault of course, I have had to wade through countless bland shooters and other trite tired western games to search for the rare Japanese gem.

This year MadWorld is one of the very few games that I am really looking forward to playing. I hope you do well and continue to make such amazing games, I wouldn't now what to do if you didn't. I would prolly give up gaming all together.

Looking forward to MadWorld. Between this, The Conduit and House of the Dead: Overkill, Sega is really catering to the mature sector of Wii owners.

Any pre-order extras for MadWorld?

It is very interesting to see somewhat the transition from a simple silhouetted Jack with little detail in terms of internal shading to a much more complex character that still manages to make sense with your two-tone style. I admire the amount of effort you and Platinum Games have put into making detailed worlds and characters using only black and white while keeping everything instantly recognizable while still completely unique to anything I as a gamer have seen before. Your work is very inspiring and makes me think about the boundaries of video games and art. Thank you for writing this.

MadWorld!!! I can't wait for it to come out!
As soon as I heard of the first few games PlatinumGames was making.
I already knew they're going to be awesome. To me, MadWorld is a fusion of the greats, Viewtiful Joe concepts, Okami's awesome art, and God Hands crazy style. MadWorld is just Crazy Awesome!
